Humpback Whale Talk Story with Whale Trust

Dec 18, 2019 – Dec 18, 2019

Join Whale Trust experts and Koholā Gallery for an informative discussion about Whales.

This portrait is titled "Honu Reflection", and it was created in Makena Maui in 2018. The reef is at risk due to higher than normal water temperature. Called coral bleaching this trend is sadly making its way around the oceans of the world.

Kohola Gallery and Gifts has left the building. We have not extended the lease in the west Maui location but have signed a lease at the new Wailea Village Center. Construction should be completed by early 2019. Stay tuned for details.

I have found a new location for the gallery and am currently in the paperwork process. There is much I want to to say but can't until the deal is done. More to come soon.

Slight change reading the move in date in new location. The lease starts April 1st. Still time to take advantage of free shipping on all art on the wall. Send PM for details.

Kohola Gallery is relocating to 844 Front St, Lahaina Hi. We will make the move during the first week of March and quietly open the door during the second week. Call 808 870 3686 with any questions or set an appointment during the transition.

Whales are ever-present in Hawaii this time of year, but if you don't want to go on a boat the best place to see whales on Maui is at Kohola Gallery in Honokowai. Come on by and see hit runs, competition pods, mothers and calves and so much more.

After one look a the spectacular fine art displayed in this gallery, you will be immersed in the beauty of and wonder of Hawaii.... you will feel and appreciate the passion of the artists. I had the opportunity to first meet the owner, Douglas Hoffman, while visiting on a family vacation in 2014. I spent 15 hours learning from him on a photo tour, and I consider him one of the most influential mentors in my own photography journey. His technical mastery is only outshined by his passion and love of the islands. If you are in the area, don't miss out on the experience of stopping in at this local treasure. You won't be disappointed.

Douglas Hoffman is a world class photographer. I especially love his whale shots. Visiting his gallery is a must when visiting Maui. Otherwise visit his website.

I just got back from Maui. I have not been to the islands for almost 20 years I lived there for 14 years Maui is amazing. I was in the scuba diving business photography etc. an old friend of mine Doug Hoffman who is shooting photography back in the 80s has now opened up a new gallery in Wailea. His work is off the hook under water and land photos like you’ve never seen before unbelievable. While I was in Maui I went to several galleries none of them could even start to match his talent. His photos are totally amazing and having very interesting stories behind them. It was a real treat to go to the Kohola Gallery.
